maker rhetorics

I’m fascinated by how things are made. Probably most (all?) writing teachers are. Writing is a kind of made/composed object, and we talk about how/why/when we write.

But why do we make anything? How do we go about learning how to make things? In late 2018/early 2019 I began to learn how to play guitar, how to bind books, and how to create carve linoleum and rubber to make ink prints. All this was rudely interrupted by my dissertation process.

I am still learning, making, and writing (albeit, slower). Here’s what I’ve learned.
